Our goal at American Pediatric Dental Group™ is to give our patients exceptional care in our state-of-the-art facility conveniently located in Pembroke Pines, FL. Over every unit, we provide entertainment to help our patients remain comfortable and at ease during each appointment. With a flat screen over each chair, patients can watch their favorite movie while we do all the work! Below are some of the many procedures and services we regularly provide to our patients – with a gentle touch and stunning results.
Oral Hygiene Instruction
Children and parents are instructed on how to properly brush and floss to protect their teeth. We provide nutritional counseling to teach our patients to select food items that are optimal for their oral health. At the end of the visit, every patient is given a bag with a toothbrush, floss, and other goodies.
Cleanings and Fluoride Application
We recommend a professional cleaning and fluoride application every 6 months to help protect the teeth and gums. For patients considered high-risk by the dentist for developing dental decay, a cleaning every 3 or 4 months may be considered.
Digital (X-Rays) Radiographs
Our digital X-ray equipment makes a time-consuming task a breeze. With a handheld device, we can take an x-ray while the child watches a movie. It takes half the time of older techniques and gives off MUCH less radiation.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
A composite (tooth-colored) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth is removed and then restored with a composite filling. All our filling materials are durable, safe, and BPA free.
Tooth-Colored and Stainless Steel Crowns
Tooth colored crowns are placed in the anterior teeth where esthetics are a concern. Stainless steel crowns are placed on posterior teeth (molars) with large cavities, fractures and/or teeth which receive pulp treatment to help protect these teeth until their natural exfoliation. Although there are several types of crowns, stainless steel crowns are most commonly used in pediatric patients because they are highly durable.
Space Maintainers
When a tooth is lost due to an accident or an extraction, a space maintainer is recommended to prevent the teeth from shifting and cause unnecessary crowding.
Under Armour® Performance Mouthwear
Custom-fit mouthwear with ArmourBite™ technology prevents the teeth from clenching, pivots the jaw forward, and relieves pressure on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Each UA Performance Mouthwear product comes with a storage case, a product booklet, care instructions and warranty information.
Nitrous Oxide “Laughing Gas”
Children who are fearful and apprehensive due well with “laughing gas”, an inhalable gas that helps relieve anxiety and allows the child to have a more pleasant experience.
Oral Sedation
Sedation in children is often administered to control behavior to allow the safe completion of a procedure. Our sedations consist of a single agent or multiple medicines mixed together and given to the patient by mouth, or in certain cases intranasally. The intended use of the medications is to help the child cope with the treatment and help them overcome their fear. Our dentist has extensive experience in the administration of oral sedatives and is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (P.A.L.S.). In addition, all our staff is certified in Basic Life Support (B.L.S.).
Intravenous (IV) Sedation and Hospital Dentistry
Children with extreme dental phobia, extensive dental decay, and/or complex medical conditions often benefit from treatment in-office with IV sedation administered by a medical anesthesiologist or at Joe DiMaggio Hospital where the dental treatment is done under general anesthesia. The use of IV sedation or treatment in a hospital setting is determined by the doctor and will be further discussed during your initial visit.
